SNOWDROP AND SUNRISE EXPRESS

 

The Beacon RCC February Audaxes are an institution on the Audax calendar, attracting 250 participants each year. The routes use quiet country roads through rural Worcestershire to Evesham and Upton. A gritted alternative is also available if icy.

They provide a perfect motivation to get out with friends when they might otherwise be tempted to stay indoors. In recent years we have also been delighted to welcome several local racing cyclists who used it for steady winter training.

Riders will be provided with be e-mailed with route cards to help with their navigation. GPS downloads are also available from the Beacon website.

 

Entry Fees:

Paypal: £8 (£6 for AUK/BC/CTC members)

Snail mail; £5 (£7 for AUK/BC/CTC members)

Please enter via the Beacon website. No entries on the day.

 

Free refreshments at the Hartlebury HQ

  • A mug of tea or coffee
  • Beans on toast or any other food on the menu to the same value
  • A slice of home-made cake.

Controls are hosted by commercial cafes at Evesham and Upton Upon Severn wher further food can be purchased.

 

The Boring Small Print Stuff

The event is held under AUK regulations:

  • The route is on open public roads.
  • Some routes may be arduous.
  • It is not a race or a timed trial.
  • The route is not waymarked or marshalled.
  • You should prepare by studying the route.
  • The organiser provides no rescue service.
  • You are responsible for your safety/conduct.
  • The cafes are acting as hosts for our controls.In the event of cancellation, as happened in 2009 due to totally ice bound roads, any proceeds will be donated to charity and fees will not be refundable.

Riders will need to make sure that they ride between 15 and 30kph average to finish.
