What is happening there? Flood relief work or a new bridge and entrance? or both?

Yes both..all the work has been completed and the mechanical equipment has gone but the metal screens are blocking off the access..I think the entrance is awaiting those sort of turnstiles to be installed to prevented vehicles entering the site..but when is the question..!..it's a great cycling route once it's open..

I'll try and find out but there doesn't appear to be any hurry when cycling projects are concerned e.g. 2 men working on Edgbaston tunnel, e.g.  lone man on A38 when I passed the other day was taking a nap in his digger.  I'm sure timescales could be reduced by employing more people.

Absolutely..and thanks for your response..

Quite a big team working on the A38 / Belgrave Middleway junction at 11:30 pm last night.

The central reservation between the university and Pebble Mill was deserted at 2pm today.

The Bourne Brook route was mentioned at the Birmingham Cycle Revolution stakeholder meeting yesterday.   It would seem this access point isn't going to be open for a long time yet.   Can you imagine a road being completely closed for so long whilst it is being (slightly) upgraded?

I asked the BCR team on Twitter, they replied that work was being done by the environment agency and was complete with remedial work to finish off. Said reopening was imminent last Monday.

I spoke to the guys who are working on site two days ago..they said it should be open at end of month..they are working on the entrance and putting those wooden bollards in that deter the motor vehicles from getting in..!..but having to wait for the machinery..!!...let's see..!!!!..I agree it's taken far too long..!!

  • It would be really good if this and Edgbaston tunnel were both finished in time for the next bank holiday weekend when a lot of people get out on their bikes.

Absolutely..I know these things have to be tackled but me hates disruption..!!..we took these routes for granted before and jeez do I miss em when they're blocked off..!

Now that woodgate valley path is tarmacked a continuous route (if they would remove a couple of barriers) all the way to university and qehb WHEN the Bournbrook is opened. Six months late!
