Cycling in and around Birmingham England
With the nights already closing in fast making riding round Sutton Park less attractive - and I've no desperate desire to hammer round the local roads - I've bought a turbo trainer for indoor use.
Rather than trash the new tyres on my road bike, I'm thinking about having a wheel just for indoor trainer use. That way I could also swap wheels relatively easily to take the bike out on the road when it suits. Luckily I have a spare 700c road wheel - rim, hub and spokes, but that's about it.
The road bike has a 105-5600 groupset with a 10-speed cassette at the rear - so my training wheel will need a compatible cassette. It'll also need a tyre (and tube) - anybody got any recommendations for something suitable but cheap?
And is there anything else I've forgotten? Yup - a skewer. Anything else?

Next year when I feel more confident on two wheels it might be a different story, but the target for this year is getting fit without breaking anything, and I can't see me achieving one without the other in the dark. The bruises are only now beginning to fade from last week's commute, and that was in broad daylight.
Apart from the cassette and the skewer, is there anything else I need to turn a rim/spokes/hub into a functioning back wheel?

No, just a tyre and a tube. The reason they have special tyres is because they get very hot.

Good luck with the views. ;-)
Bob's right about the tyres. But if you're only doing, say, half an hour a day (C'mon, be honest), you don't really need to do much at all.
If you're doing more than that - NIGHT RIDES! Where's Pete? What happened to the night rides?
