They say in Engineering "If something looks right, it will be". This doesn't look right.
I quite like it as a concept. The scooter idea is good for when you get to pedestrianised town centres.
Although wouldn't you keep kicking the pedals as you scoot along?
What if the lights break? You have to replace your handlebars/mudguards?
What if the company goes bust in 5 years and no longer make them - same applies for compatible panniers.
That right angle at the base of the downtube will need a hefty piece of internal metalwork to stop it creasing.
True, even if it was strong enough short term, it is the most fatigue susceptible part of a bike I can think of. I wouldn't trust it to last more than a year before failing. Hopefully they've put some thought into it though.
Permalink Reply by CKS on February 24, 2012 at 9:58 This bike hasn't been designed - it's just a collection of ideas put together. It will have to be completely rethought if it ever goes into production.
(Another problem, the extra length added by the footboard would mean that rider would have lean almost horizontally just to reach the handlebars. This might be acceptable on a racing bike but not a town one)
