Cyclists clear bike path with chainsaws !

No it's not the Selly Oak by-pass but the frontier community spirit shown by the group I try to ride with (snow, power cuts and fallen trees permitting) when visiting my daughter in Connecticut.

Hi Thu-Fri riders,

Yesterday (Sun) I rode on much of the path, pushed my bike on some parts and carried it over some trees.  I saw some volunteers clearing the trail, maybe 20 cyclists includingLarry & Gary who ride with us, lots of joggers and walkers.

Charlie & I are working on a time & day to do more trail clearing.

FCHT Conditions - Noon to 4:30 Sunday 11/13/11

Most of the 22mi from Red Oak Hill Rd, Farmington to the Mass border are cleared.  2.0 miles have fallen trees.  4.4 has some remaining debris but is rideable.

0.5 mi Country Club Rd to Sandscreen Rd has many fallen trees - unrideable.

0.1 mi Sperry Park to the turn North has two fallen trees - unrideable.

0.5 mi Wolcott Rd to turn at Lordship has a few fallen trees - unrideable.

0.5 mi Turn at Lordship to turn at CT10 has a few fallen trees.  A crew of two was working on this section

0.8 mi Floydville Rd to Hartford Ave/CT189 has some debris, fallen trees have been removed

0.4 mi Hartford Ave/CT189 has many fallen trees -unrideable.  The next 0.5 mi has been cleared.

3.6 mi (to Mass) Fallen trees have been removed, some debris remains

6.2 mi in Mass has fallen trees.

3.1 mi Mass border to Point Grove Rd. still many fallen trees, some have been cleared

3.1 mi Point Grove Rd to Westfield has many fallen trees
