Good news, Edgbaston tunnel towpath is about to be widened. Bad news, it will be closed for 10 weeks from 2nd January to 16th March 2018.

* Update: Closure due to start from 22nd January

Anyone been through recently? Planning to use tomorrow if still open. Thanks.

Was there on Monday and was still open. Stopped to look at the new notices and they're saying the 22nd January, although not the easiest to spot.

Yep still open

Still open Friday, no sign of any barriers, but quieter than usual.

It was still open this afternoon.

Not been this way for a while; anyone know how work is going? Likely to open on time?

thanks

There was an update to the notice on the CRT site last week which mentions a two week delay for the steelwork but they haven't changed the finish date from 16th March. It's fenced off from Five Ways and presumably the Vale at  the other end so not possible to see how it's going unless you go on a barge trip.

I thought the navigation was closed as well.

Had a look earlier from the university side. It's not possible to see the tunnel as there is a bend in the canal. The BCR notice on the fence says the end date is 30th March.
