Julie's petition for Hagley Road cycle lanes

http://epetition.birmingham.public-i.tv/epetition_core/view/Cycling...

A friend was recently knocked off her bike at a Hagley Road pinch point, by an SUV driver who was recklessly hasty.

The lawyers are dealing with the driver, and Julie has turned her attention to the Council. As of today, her petition has 4 signatories. I'm hoping there's more of a turnout before it expires on Sept 30.

Very happy to sign it is a nightmare route especially where narrows and should be he focus of a Lane before the A34 IMHO

Signed.

Done!

Done

Signed. Sadly though don't think anything will be done in next 12 months at least. We have to hope a38 and a34 cycle superhighways are a massive success that makes ignoring these requests for the same to be done elsewhere impossible. Also will require Andy Street to come good on his £10 per head spend pledge. Even if does though my guess is the view is there isn't room on Hagley Rd for a decent bike lane and would be better spent on metro or buses.

Wasn't there a plan to put high-speed bendy buses down the Hagley Road?

Just signed!

It's really needed on that busy commuter route into and out of the city. Totally agree with the comments in the petition.

Although I think they'll be concentrating their efforts on the A34 & A38 cycle routes for now.

I don't know what happened to the Sprint bus system that was being looked at a couple of years ago? I think it ran out of steam...The other thing they really need to get a move on with is the Tram extension up to junction 3 of the M5. A park and ride scheme in conjunction with the Tram would work wonders for traffic de-congestion and air quality.

Signed and shared. I don't even live/go that way, but if it means supporting safer cycling in this city of awful cycling. I am willing to support any improvement.

Hagley road is like 6 lanes wide for a good odd mile at least. Then it narrows to 2 each way. Easily could fit in a shared cycle path on the narrower bit then a proper cycle lane into Broad Street would be nice I think!
