Cycling in and around Birmingham England

Well there was hope the winning of the Commonwealth games (as will happen) will see a new velodrome here but clearly as games so cheap will not happen.

Sadly either Manc ir London will host the track but looking forward to see where the road and TT elements will be. Especially if the Velo does work and Nimby;s stop whining the route for it could be used as the road race and the Hagley road used as the TT with a u turn at the M5 motorway junction and back !

I believe that Derby Velodrome is being considered as the potential venue for Track Cycling.

I read not enough seats though and not possible to expand ?

When Manchester and Glasgow hosted the games they both built velodromes. If Birmingham isn't prepared to do the same they should exclude cycling rather than hold it 100 miles away. Perhaps they can host a Superprix instead.

it is a lost opportunity, we will get a new 50M pool we badly need but also imagine a velodrome as well ....

What a wasted opportunity by Birmingham University not to build an olympic sized pool

well it is 50M I thought ? just not the spectator facilities ?

An olympic sized pool has to be 50m long and 25m wide (10 lanes).  The Birmingham University pool is 50m long but only 17m wide (6 lanes)
