Cycling in and around Birmingham England
I picked up a bit of Brum ephemera at the cyclists' jumble sale on Saturday, a booklet called "Cycling in Birmingham". It's is a curious mixture of adverts for bike shops, an A-Z style cycling route map, generic bike care info, local cycling politics and a directory of useful organisations. Looks like it was published in the 1980s? It has 56 A5 pages in a card over and was produced by "Birmingham Cycling Project" whose address was given AS 54 Alison Street.
Here's the cover: http://twitpic.com/476uk9 and here's a BCC advert from page 6: http://twitpic.com/476uwm
On page 5, it's stated that the "Traffic Education for Cyclists" scheme had been launched by BCC to replace the Cycling Proficiency Test.
Issues covered include potholes, bike theft, and shortage of space for bikes on trains. You will all no doubt be glad to know that British Rail were promising to improve the cycle parking at New Street Station!

This is proof that they lie and can not be trusted. Don't believe it until you see it.
