Cycling in and around Birmingham England
The Programme for the new Still Walking festival was published this morning which interestingly includes Radial Truths
"this cycling tour will explore the social history of bicycle production and use in Birmingham. We will visit sites of local and sometimes international importance to cycling as it developed into a significant industry and practice from the beginning of the 20th Century."
The tour's led by Chris Tomlinson (the geezer from those awfully nice B'ham Bike Foundry people and sometimes Critical Mass regular)
Friday 23rd March, 12 Noon

I think that Brum would actually benefit from something about the history of bikes in the city (after all we did have the biggest bike builder in the world: Sun in Aston), to get us away from the Brum=cars equation that we all see all the time. I did try to get something in our museum but the normal BCC lack of funding ruled it out.
Permalink Reply by LS on February 22, 2012 at 16:43 Sun might have been the biggest bike builder in the world but Hercules were the largest cycle manufacturer in the world :-)
Permalink Reply by Simon on February 22, 2012 at 18:22 I think that with thee things there are often at least two, if not more, largest producers running concurrently - depends whose blurb you believe if any. At least they seem to agree that Brum was once the largest maker of bikes in the world back in the day!
