Cycling in and around Birmingham England

This should be an interesting discussion.

I have been trying to work out exactly what my dream bike woukd be.

I have a few ideas.

I think I'd be looking for a light road bike/tourer with disc brakes not sure which make as yet. Likely to want hub dynamo lights too.

As you see I'm still forming my ideas on this at present.

Any other views woul be useful to help med get some ideas. Though doubt I'll ever be able to afford it.

I've been thinking about this a bit recently, really would like a Genesis Equilibrium 20 or an old school lightweight steel Bianchi.

http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/road/equilibrium/equilibrium-20

or an Axalko wooden bike like this one

My dream bike is a beat up old hire bike, being used to explore an historic city while on holiday.

I am impatient for the lighter evenings so I can cycle more than I have time for at the moment.

Now my dream bike wouldn't need to be bling or particularly fast.  It would just need to fit me like a glove and have components that lasted for ever.  So that I could just plod on for ever - past Alpha Centauri on onwards.

My dream bike?

Well, I already have my Brompton, but if I could have more I'd have to include a cargo bike, and a good town bike. After those two, I'd settle for a more sporty tourer as well.

But the Brompton if nothing else.

Ditto but with magic tyres that never puncture and automatically change from smooth to knobbly.

"Me want expensive bike" says "Pinarello Dogma"

Slightly off-beat side of me says Bamboo bike.

Wild and wacky side of me likes SJW's option for magic tyres.

alas, I couldn't ride my dream bike any more as my neck is knackered.  If I could then it would probably be a strong Ti frame that would take 700c wheels with fat tyres (up to 2") and guards.  Geometry just on the sporting side of stable so that it could be thrown about on the road but would still be manageable off road.

All the 'braze ons' for full on touring.

7 or 8 * 3 spd.  (or rolhoff)

XT group set, V brakes (possibly with disc mounts in case I wanted to change one day) and tektro V drop bar levers.

Several sets of wheels - one for off road, one for touring, another for fast road riding

Now, my ideal is probably a mid racer 'bent bike with some kind of suspension, that could do touring, audaxing and nippy club rides..

Handmade steel tubing road bike , handmade wheels with Dura Ace groupset for my 60th birthday.

Got mine. Legal weight limit.

Ideal for what?

Ideally one would have a huge bike shed with an ideal bike for each purpose.  A touring bike, a winter road bike, a cyclo-x bike, a track bike (more nostalgia!), a commuter, a shopper, a fast day-ride (sprotive if you must) bike ... etc.

And ideally plenty of time to spend in the said shed lovingly polishing and fiddling with those things of beauty!

I'm working on it!

You've seen in my shed !!!
