Sturmey Archer AW3 Hubbed Wheel

I bought this off Simon a few months ago to fit onto my Pompino. 3 speeds turned out to be too few for my knees, so I fitted a SRAM S7 hub instead. That means I have the wheel sitting around. Here's…Continue

On One Pompino

I built this bike up a year ago to use alongside my Orbit Orion City. Trouble is, I made it so similar to the Orbit that I never use it! Well, hardly ever. It's certainly lighter and more nimble, but the Orion fits me better and is more comfy.I'm writing this rather basic spec description from memory, so feel free to ask questions:Pompino frame, size large, colour green. The rear stays have been cold set to widen it up to fit the hub gear. This was done with great care and in reality I only…See More

"Absolutely.  I've no idea why I typed 43 as my geartable says 47.  (43 would be with a 20t sprocket however).   "

"By the way, bottom gear is a 25% reduction which works out at about 47 inches.  (Top gear is a 33% increase)"

"Conversion completed!  I now have a 3-speed roadster.  One day I might get it painted up, but for now it's a super commuter/winter gears bike. I actually used a conventional downtube shifter to work the SA 3speed hub and it works a…"

Ken Davidson replied to Andy H's discussion Wanted: Kiddie Size Bars
"I've ended up hacksawing cheapo bars down on all my lad's bikes so far, and for the tandem I stuck on some racing bars to help his reach. Note also the crank shorteners. Pic attached. "
