It’s clearly the same guy, with the same hang-ups. He’s either been pulled for offing a cyclist, or a mate of the defendant. Either way, he’s not the sharpest tool in the box. Best wishes Bob

I fit a nurse’s lock for this. I use the Axa defender - it’s a frame mounted lock that engages through the back wheel, hugely common in europe. You can buy anchor cables to use with them, or use the sort that comes with the offer above.…

I’d be interested to see stats on the major attack mode to D locks. I suspect the vast majority not lock attacks, but brute force - jacks, angle grinders, croppers etc. Bob

It’s a lock for a tenner, with a decent cable. As a deterrent (which is all a lock is) it’s worth the money. No problems with mine. I always recommend using two locks anyway. Bob

Hi

Its actually been a while since i have been cycling around here (Burton-on-Trent). Would like to get back into it, starting with some commuting if I can fix my old or buy a new bike sometime soon.

Dear BrownhillsBob,

I just saw the video "Peace beneath the city: Old Turn Junction to Aston Junction" and was wondering what camera/mount do you use? I've started filming my routes via iPhone and while I'm happy with the resolution of the video, the mounting bracket transfers all the road buzz and the image is somewhat blurred.

I was trying to send you a private message but it seems we must be "friends to communicate this way...

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom

I'd rather discuss it publicly, then everyone can share the knowledge. It's why we're here, after all.

I mostly use a Gopro HD hero camera, although some have been filmed on a Contour, and one on a Panasonic compact camera in video recording mode.

Tried helmet-style mounts (I'm not a helmet wearer); the resulting video made me feel seasick. Tried a bar mount - better, but you get the wobble. The camera ended up mounted on the head tube of the bike, thus it only gets the pitch and yaw from pedalling and cornering, but you do get the odd, low viewpoint.

I use a Ram roll bar mount. Expensive, but rock solid. Attaches to the head tube with a jubilee clip.

The adaptor is a standard tripod thread and ill attach anything with a tripod mount. Ram do a huge amount od alternative mounting heads, even ones for iPhones.

I then edit the film up in iMovie.

Anything else you need to know, just ask.

Cheers

Bob
