"This is shocking, I had a glass bottle thrown at me by a couple of lads from the opposite side of the canal near the bumpy bridge, luckily not injured but  did report it so police were aware. I am glad some cyclists arrived soon…"

"Nice to see lots more cyclists using the canal this week.  I wonder what they are going to do with the next section of concrete slabs past the incinerator?"

Kenofski replied to Cookie's discussion Curzon Street Canal Tunnel Lights
"To BCC's credit it has never been a policy of theirs to switch lights off in the city to save money on energy costs although red top tabloids do like to use this story to scare their masses of readers."

Chad replied to Cookie's discussion Curzon Street Canal Tunnel Lights
"Not being cynical at all, but I wouldnt be surprised if the lights are off purely for cost saving purposes.  The tunnel has a notice at each end with a phone number to call should the tunnel lights be off, although on the couple of occasions I…"

Kenofski replied to Cookie's discussion Curzon Street Canal Tunnel Lights
"When the City Council handed over it's lighting stock to Amey it inexplicably left out thousands of lamposts and the lighting along the canal network out of the contract. BCC are still responsible for maintaining these but seems to have little…"

Philip Eddington replied to Cookie's discussion Curzon Street Canal Tunnel Lights
"Two years is just ridiculous. If we want people to use the canal tow path then things like this need to be sorted with in hours on years and maybe even decades. At the end of the day these are only lights so it can't be too hard to fix,"
