No it's not the Selly Oak by-pass but the frontier community spirit shown by the group I try to ride with (snow, power cuts and fallen trees permitting) when visiting my daughter in Connecticut. Hi…Continue

Red Kite let me out on a Bianchi Mega Pro for 30 mins or so and put my pedals on it. Needless to say it was so light and fast for the time (over 12 years ago) that I bought it. But I now ride shorter more upright bikes following various fits…

Yes looks great. I'd once wondered if, when the oil runs out, club runs of enthusiasts could tow Ring and Ride charabancs down the motorways to give folks outings. I was going to say old folks but I understand that Mick Ives the great…

Latest from Times' campaign. Ian Austin MP a keen cyclist and fairly local to us has called for Parliamentary debate on 23 Feb. Worth making points to your MP and encouraging attendance? Cyclists dont get this political airtime very often,…

Times launches "Save our Cyclists" / Cities fit for Cycling campaign

I don't usually read anything published by Murdoch but my wife bought the Times today because there is a whole front page on Save our Cyclists campaign, two pages inside and a leader. They are launching a campaign "Cities fit for Cycling" and highlighting lorries, unsafe junctions, better cycle lanes and supporting 20mph limits in residential areas. Its prompted by an accident that has left one of their young reporters Mary Bowers in a coma.  It does focus on London but good to see mainstream…See More

Dave Cox replied to Karen Leach's discussion 'Brooks saddle - does it really need treating with special Brooks proofide?'
Many years ago we used neatsfoot oil but it was rather messy and a no no for ordinary or light coloured trousers! Proofhide or similar leather dressing seems to work OK. I think I've used stuff that came with some Timberland boots but it…

from BBC West Midlands speed cameras facing switch-off

Hundreds of speed cameras could be switched off in the West Midlands after funding of £1.9m for the partnership which runs them was cut.

The West Midlands Casualty Reduction Scheme, which manages the cameras, was funded by seven local authorities in the West Midlands.

But the authorities have withdrawn the funding because of budget cuts.

If no…
