Found an abandoned, damaged bike

I'm wondering what to do with a bike that was abandoned in Highbury Park last week.It's a Halford brand hybrid, 26" wheels. The rear wheel has been partly pulled off as has the rear tyre. Haven't looked to see what other damage there may be. Rang 101 to see if anything had been reported. The lady said there were 30-some pages of bike thefts on file for this part of the city, and that I ought to drop it in to Bournville station. Fat chance of that. For teh scientifically minded...

A few days ago my elder brother sent me some links to a paper he's co-authored on self-stable bicycles.
