I've just had a very long exchange (that could be described as ranting - on both sides) with a friend on Facebook who now lives in Oz. As an aside, however tough we think we have it on the roads in…Continue

Fantastic documentary from the late 80s/early 90s

But depressing that the lessons contained in the film weren't heeded, and how - in the absence of really strong political will (in places like the Netherlands or Denmark) - the situation is no…Continue

It's not often that our city's political leaders get praise hereabouts, but credit where it's due - I LOVE their special driver ability labelling scheme. They take as many of the sub-standard drivers…Continue

Close pass x2 (Sorry I swear a lot on this video)

"I hate cycling along dual carriageways.  Take the lane and you get run over.  Don't take the lane and you get close passes.  More than anywhere else, fast dual carriageways like the A45 need either a dedicated cycle lane or an…"

Ouch

You know how cycling feels risky but is statistically safe?

You know how people tell you that it's too dangerous to ride on the roads, yet it is statistically safe?

Yeah, well, sometimes we don't beat the odds.

My surgeon won't let me NEAR a bike for six months. He won't let me STAND for six weeks.

In the one week I've spent in Intensive Care, my big thighs and bulging knees have melted away to pallid, weedy things. Actually, that's not quite right.… Continue

Wake it up. What happened is it wakes up every 6 hours for 5 minutes, then goes back to sleep. If it's armed, it wakes up on vibration, and further vibration keeps it away.

If you text it in a sleep period, it won't reply until it wakes automatically and finds the text request waiting.

In all cases, it sleeps again after five minutes of inactivity.

It seems to work for me. It told me when other people were taking their bikes out of the shed two days running.

It's not perfect, but works way better than I expected.

Cheers

Bob
