"Marathon tyres and wet canal brickwork are not a good combination when trying to brake on the front wheel - this has caused me about 3 crashes due to the front wheel wiping out when braking ( even at slow speeds )"

"That's awful. I rarely go home via River Cole / canal at Ackers these days for this very reason. It's fine in the mornings. Do you know what time it happened and how old the cyclist was?"

He was set upon by about 4 "Asian" youths who stopped him and then proceed to lay into him before running off with his bike. The police attended the scene of the crime and they even brought in a dog handler to try and apprehend the criminals, but it looks like they got away. However, a passing cyclist thinks he may have captured them on his bike cam and was willing…See More

About me
Keen "re-born again" cyclist.
Living in Birmingham.
Married to a non-cyclist...never learnt to ride...what a shame!
Like to map routes out before venturing out.
My riding style is comfortable, brisk to quick, on varying terrain.
Have been involved in a few of long distance rides to London; once on the Canal network and twice by road.
I want to see more and better, preferably separate cycle lanes / routes, and not just WHITE lines painted on the road / pavement.
Motto: Ride On & Ride Strong!!!
