Cycling to/from QE Hospitals

Do you or could you cycle to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital complex? I've been doing it for years and always I'm annoyed how badly it is signed and how disjointed are the cycle paths. It seems a good time to make a fuss because the new Selly Oak Green Travel District has been established to encourage workers/visitors/patients/ and others to leave their cars at home. Apparently a large proportion of people going to the hospitals live within a few miles so cycling should be a relatively attractive…See More

LS replied to john bennett's discussion Media attitude on cycling
"I think if someone is intimidated by cycling with heavy traffic I'd rather they cycled carefully on the pavement than not at all. The politicians and highways people who designed the environment are the anti-social ones."

RobG replied to john bennett's discussion Media attitude on cycling
"My comment obviously had designated shared use/segregated pavements as exceptions - are there other pavements where cycling is legal? - and what's anti-social is a matter of personal opinion. Rob"

LS replied to john bennett's discussion Media attitude on cycling
"Except it's not illegal everywhere and not particularly anti-social if you give consideration to pedestrians. It can be quite social in some circumstances."

Gentle cycling in Bournville

Bournville Village Trust is running a competition for community projects. Benefits to individuals of course, but also to community contact, local shops, cafes and enabling people to meet rather than be cocooned in cars. Many people never explore their own locality -this will open their eyes. I  would provide leaders, assistance with bike care, publicity…

guaranteed good weather for the whole of this Reat of England Rally -weekend in contrast to previous years. As the Audaxes are on the afternoon of the FA cup Final -it is bound to be great cricketing sunshine.
