nick bradley replied to Former Highwayman's discussion Some people are just rebellious they will come a serious cropper one day and someone wil have the pleasure of scraping their remains up
"Couple of things here. 1. I see plenty of drivers jumping reds, many times in dangerous situations. This doesn't give all drivers a bad name with me. People who hate cyclists will hate just by their presence. 2. Not all situations are equal.…"

Tom H replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"No, not obligatory, as a cyclist you can filter on the left, on the right or where there are multi lanes, lane split (going in the middle of two lanes), or you can not filter at all and stay in line. The exception to this is large vehicles…"

doug salmon replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"wouldn't do it if unsafe. is this the same principle being applied by motorists who do apparently ridiculously dangerous stuff around cyclists, but are actually perfectly safe because they are experienced and established.....?"

Paul Allen replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"I'm gonna stick my neck out here and suggest the opposite of common sense. If the "other" cyclist was fast enough to undertake you, then I would think he/she is an established cyclist. He/she has done it before. He/she knows the risks…"

doug salmon replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"Cyclists are allowed to filter on the left But is ot obligatory; doing something unexpected by other road users in close proximity is usually a Bad Idea. Unfortunately plenty of cyclists can be as thoughtless as motorists."

nick bradley replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"Ye. Maybe I guess I'll have to start checking my left as well if we ever get a decent amount of cyclists in Brum. I was moving off at decent speed so he was risking both of us coming off with his undertake ( defo not filtering). But he seemed…"

Tom H replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"as far as a the highway code/national standards for cycling go, you may or may not be right depending on the exact circumstances of when the passed you. Cyclists are allowed to filter on the left, including past other cyclists. This is not…"

Tomas replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"You are in the right - anyone who undertakes, particularly without warning, is an idiot, even if you were right across the lane, end of. Difficult to predict and protect against idiots. And idiots are particularly resistant to advice."

Kim replied to nick bradley's discussion Being undertaken by bike. Advice please
"It's a tricky one, that I haven't really found a good solution to.  More of a hazard in London, on account of the greater numbers of commuter cyclists with more speed than road sense, but still rare enough that you don't expect…"

Being undertaken by bike. Advice please

This doesn't happen too often but a bit of a worry for me. I take primary at lights so I guess open the door for cyclists undertaking me at speed when I head off. I never, or rarely, shoulder check my left, so am worried one day I'll start drifting to the left and hit another cyclist, with us both hitting the deck.It rarely happens but today I got undertook after cycling off from a crossroads and the cyclist said 'I shouldn't have been in the middle of the road', which annoyed me a bit. I tried…See More

nick bradley replied to Ian's discussion Commuter Route

nick bradley replied to LS's discussion Changes to Birmingham Cycle Revolution Main Routes
"As Gareth said. I would love the Hagley Road corridor to be first on the list, but it is far better to have some showcase high quality routes you would be happy for your kids to cycle on than loads of half baked schemes. Hopefully the residents of…"

nick bradley replied to John Pitcock's discussion Cycle parking at shops
"It's always worth asking the shop manager about bike parking. My shop has in store bike parking on top of my bike (if I'm asked). Last week I noticed a women walking around Waitrose in Harborne with her rather beautiful Pinarello and they…"

nick bradley replied to Doug's discussion NO CYCLE ACCESS TO OR FROM SHELDON
